St. Leonard Memory Support Center
The St. Leonard Memory Support Center seeks to create a home-like environment for every resident that optimizes each individual’s independence, dignity and social interaction while affording round-the-clock security and personalized care, as needed. At St. Leonard, 750 seniors of all faiths enjoy a high-quality, care-free lifestyle with programs and services adhering to the core values of Reverence, Service, and Stewardship.
Visionary organizations like St. Leonard are leading the way in providing an environment where current seniors as well as those of coming generations can look to the future with anticipation and joy. St. Leonard has developed a comprehensive Master Plan that includes enhanced care for seniors with dementia and Alzheimer’s in a new Memory Support Center. This future Memory Support Center will provide assisted-living and skilled care for 60 resident’s with any form of dementia including Alzheimer’s. With advancing years, dementia is likely to become a fact of life and, as our population ages, the prevalence of dementia and Alzheimer’s is on the rise.
In the new 60-bed center, residents will enjoy a high quality of life provided by private bedrooms and baths situated around a central living area. This arrangement gives all residents access to home-like amenities outside their private rooms, including family activity areas, a kitchen, quiet sitting rooms, and an outdoor courtyard.
The new Memory Support Center will accommodate 30 skilled-nursing residents and 30 assisted-living residents, arranged in four 15-bed households. Highly-trained and devoted caregivers are integrated into the family-style accommodations in such a way that a loving bond is created between staff and residents. As the level of care required by residents advances, they remain in the proximity to the same caregivers, eliminating the anguish of change or separation from beloved staff members. Not only is this feeling of connection vital to the perceived wellness of residence, but it also provides comfort and peace of mind to residents’ family members who can rest assured their loved ones are both content and secure.
