Employee Performance Reinforcement Case Study

Employee Performance Reinforcement

Industry
Healthcare

Program Type
Peer-to-peer recognition / employee engagement

Objectives
Increase employee participation in peer recognition efforts
Streamline processes and significantly reduce costs

Situation Overview
Client’s existing employee recognition and reward program provided limited award selection, low perceived value, limited program reporting capabilities and no ability to track back to departmental budget line items. The original paper-based nomination process was cumbersome. The client needed an online system to automate the entire process, from nomination to reward point issuance, including award redemption and integrated reporting.

Solutions
A point-based system was created which included complete tracking and reporting capabilities. An online “decision tree matrix” took nominators through a series of questions to determine how many points a nominee should earn for their performance. The system also included a robust suite of reports that allowed the client to tie recognition and reward budgets back to individual departments.

Results
58% of eligible employees used the new recognition system, a 26% increase.
80% of employees sent multiple reinforcement messages throughout the year.
650,000 cost reduction was achieved during the first year of implementation.
